男孩从江南小镇来，女孩是北京本地人，当初相遇，就如同宝玉初见黛玉：“这个妹妹，我是见过的。”

四年相恋后，毕业时，女孩带男孩回家。母亲问他的家世，男孩一五一十说了。女孩惊觉母亲脸色变了，然后拂袖而去，下了逐客令。

“怎么了？”女儿忐忑地问。

母亲说，“文化大革命”时搞武斗，是男孩父亲把她父亲搞死的，那时候她还小。母亲说：“你能嫁给他吗？你嫁给他，我宁可撞死。”
