倒水的学问职场励志小故事中的物品智慧

大学毕业后好几个月，我一直都在人才市场不停地奔波着，希望能够找到一个适合自己的职位。那天，我看到国内一家着名的民营企业招聘一位秘书，因为待遇非常优厚，吸引了许多像我一样刚毕业的大学生。我很幸运，我在几百名应聘的大学生中成为被公司通知面试的二十个人之一。

虽然已被通知面试，但我很清楚将去公司面试的这二十个人，谁都比我更为优秀，而招聘的秘书职位只有一个。我会笑到最后吗？心里可真是一点把握也没有。

到公司面试的那天上午，我早早就来到了公司总经理办公室外等待面试。我以为自己来得早，可别人比我来得更早，大家都希望得到这个令人羡慕的职位，但也都像我一样表情掩饰不住内心的忐忑不安。

轮到我进去面试的时候，看见总经理威严而沉稳地坐在对面，我反倒冷静了许多，对总经理提出的几个面试问题，我也是对答如流。渐渐地，我欣喜地注意到，严肃的总经理脸上露出了满意的大笑。最后他轻松地说：“谢谢你，你回答得非常好，如果我们录用你，我们会电话通知你的。请帮我倒杯水来好吗？”

I walked to the water dispenser on the wall and took out two paper cups because I noticed an old man sitting in a corner of the office, reading a newspaper. I thought that while giving total manager a cup of water, it would be appropriate to also give one to him - something a secretary should do. So I did, handing over the filled cup to total manager first and then pouring another for the old man saying "Please have some water."

He looked up from his newspaper and smiled at me: "Thank you, young lady." Two days later, when I had almost lost hope of getting this job opportunity suddenly received a call from company informing me they had decided to hire me as their secretary. They asked me to go immediately report for work at chairman's office.

This phone call left me nearly speechless; it was hard not believe my luck. When I arrived at chairman's office without delay and reported there for duty, what surprised me most was who sat behind that large desk: none other than the unassuming old man from my earlier face-to-face interview with total manager.

"You're welcome," said Chairman with a warm smile. "You are our chosen candidate; even though you may not be the most qualified among your peers but through your simple act of offering someone else water during your last round of interviews we saw in you qualities such as kindness compassion and humility which make you perfect fit here."
